I like to think that I occupy a privileged position as both a professional educator with a particular expertise in autism and a parent with direct experience of raising a child with Asperger syndrome. Also, because my teaching specialism is the education of children with severe learning difficulties, I have experience of the whole ability range encompassed within autistic spectrum disorders.
Therefore I feel able to offer a unique perspective on autism. It is one that will commend itself both to parents and professionals. But, more importantly, my greatest source of gratification lies in the fact that there are people on the autistic spectrum who regard my contributions to the understanding of autism in a positive light.
For these reasons I have no hesitation in offering my services as a speaker on autism. I am happy to speak in my capacity as a parent, as a professional, or as an AC friendly NT.
Because of my full time teaching commitment I am only able to accept speaking engagemments at weekends and during school holidays.I have a sliding scale of charges
I regret having to charge for all necessary travelling and accomodation expenses. I live in Cumbria and when travelling outside the North West of England it is often cheaper to pay for an economy railway ticket and overnight accomodation rather than travel at premium rates on an early morning train.
